'Roos Dealt Injury Blow With Grand Final Spot On The Line

Kangaroos have been dealt another big blow on the eve of the Group Nine preliminary final.

Star fullback Jake Mascini will miss the clash with Kangaroos at Greenfield Park on Sunday with a serious foot issue.

Mascini sat out their win over Gundagai last week after picking up a problem late in their win over Albury to start the finals series.

After getting a number of opinions on the Lisfranc issue he's set to undergo surgery on Monday to repair a number of ligaments in his foot.

It's a bitter pill to take.

"It's pretty disappointing time of the year to be getting an injury but I don't think it really matters when I did it, it's looking like a fairly long recovery time," Mascini said.

Mascini has been given a very different range on his recovery time, spanning from 12 weeks to 12 months.

He's hoping it won't impact next season too much either.

"They did say nine to 12 months to start off with but speaking to the surgeon he talked about a few players that he's had back between 12 to 16 weeks," Mascini said.

"That's not too bad and hopefully that's before next season starts."
