Kangaroos Dominate On Their Way To First Sullivan Cup Title In Eight Years

KANGAROOS are Sullivan Cup premiers after a dominant grand final victory over cross-town rivals Southcity on Sunday.

After going down to Young in last year's under 16 grand final, Kangaroos went one better this time around courtesy of an impressive 38-4 grand final win over the Bulls at Equex Centre.

A Kobe Gustowski early double got Kangaroos off to a strong start and they were never troubled with Southcity's only joy coming moments before half-time when they crossed in the corner.

It was Kangaroos' first under 16 title since 2016 and coach Matt Pike couldn't have been happier with his group of boys.

"I'm super proud," Pike said.

"They came out and stuck to the game plan and they didn't go away from it.

"To be honest, I didn't know much about these boys when I first took it on but the majority of these boys were in that group last year. They've had a super big pre-season and they just carried it through the season."

A dominant performance from the Kangaroos pack laid the platform for the victory and backrower Kai Stanmore was duly rewarded with man of the match honours.
